Welcome

Welcome to 4th grade! I'm so excited to have the opportunity to work at A.R. Turner and teach your child new things this year.

This is my 7th year teaching and four of those years have been in Willis. I'm originally from Pasadena, Texas where I lived for the first 18 years of my life. From there I went to a junior college in Kansas for my first two years of college on a track/cross country scholarship. After finishing school in Kansas and earning my Associates degree I made my way back to Texas where I attended Sam Houston State University. I spent another five years at Sam Houston State before finishing and earning my Bachelors in Education.

I started my education career in Conroe ISD where I was a TAKS tutor and then an instructional aide while I waited for a teaching position to come available. I was hired as a teacher and spent three years in Conroe ISD before making my way to Willis ISD. My last three years had been at C.C. Hardy where I taught 4th grade language arts for a year and then two years of 3rd grade language arts.

I made the move to Turner this year and have been loving every minute of this campus. We have wonderful people who care for your child during the week and I'm fortunate to be able to be here and work alongside so many wonderful teachers.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email me at skeener@willisisd.org or you're welcome to schedule a conference at 9:35 - 10:10 Monday, Tuesday, or Friday. I'm also available after school if the school day is not convenient for you.

Pumpkin Project

This was sent home with child on Tuesday Oct. 4th. This project is meant to be a creative way for your child to comprehend a story as well as sharing their creativity with our school. We would like for the finished products to be on display in the library. Your child will be able to take their pumpkin home after its had time in the library.

This project should be fully completed and turned in by Friday Oct 28. If your child's project is too large or delicate to bring on the bus I would recommend that it be brought to school by an adult. If you're not able to make it to school during regular school hours please feel free to send a note the day before and a time that you'd be arriving and I'd be happy to stay and wait for it's delivery.

Please know that this is meant to be completed by your child and your assistance is allowed but this project should not be fully completed by you the parent. I ask that you guide where you're able to guide and assist with adult only parts of the project (ex: spray painting or us of a hot glue gun).

Thank you so much for all the help you've provided your child this year and the help you'll be providing during this project. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to send a note or a quick email.

These spelling words should be added to your child's planner if they aren't already. Your child should be completing their spelling homework using the spelling menu in their homework folder. They have responsibility to complete 20pts total and should be turned into on Friday morning.

If you have further questions please feel free to email me at skeener@willisisd.org and I'd be happy to answer any of your questions.
