“The quarter grading system allows us to end the semester before the winter break in December and have reporting periods that are long enough to accurately assess student progress,” stated Superintendent Tim Harkrider. WISD staff will continue to check student grades at three and six week intervals to comply with UIL regulations regarding participation in qualifying activities.
“With this change, we felt it was important to provide parents with more ways to keep up with their child’s progress,” Harkrider continued. “Therefore, we added a student information component to our mobile app. Parents can download the app and check all of their child’s information from the convenience of their smartphone.”
For those who want a larger, more traditional viewing screen, they can log on to the parent portal system from any computer or laptop.
“In addition to giving parents more convenient access, we are saving time, money, and resources by not printing thousands of grade reports every few weeks,” Harkrider continued. “Parents who still want a paper copy or don’t have the resources to access the report digitally can contact their child’s campus for assistance.
